This year I had the pleasure of celebrating the new year with the Ethiopian community in Melbourne.

There were great performances and young girls adorned with bright-yellow flowers(adey abeba) on their head performed a song called Abebayehosh. 

It’s the year 2017 on their calendar.  The Ethiopian Calendar is 7 to 8 years behind the Gregorian calendar.

Some interesting facts about Ethiopia

-Ethiopia is one of the African countries that was never colonised.

-The main administrative capital of the African Union is Ethiopia’s capital city: Addis Ababa

 –Ethiopian Airlines commands the lion’s share of the African passenger and cargo network operating the youngest and most modern fleet to more than 150 domestic and international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents.
